Match Day 33 Premier League Betting Tips 2021/22

Premier League Match Previews and Betting Tips 21/22: Matchday 33

Arsenals European hopes keep dimming. Having wasted their three games-in-hand, they lost 2 – 1 to Brighton. Manchester United lost 1 – 0 to struggling Everton. Manchester City and Liverpool share a point to keep the title race within a point. Chelsea beat the Saints 6 – 0 while Spurs thumped Villa 4 – 0. Newcastle continued their impressive form, winning 1 – 0 against Wolves. However, the relegation got a new twist as Norwich beat Burnley 2 – 0 while Watford lost 3 – 0 to Leeds. Leicester beat Palace 2 – 1, and Brentford’s good run continues, they beat West Ham 2 – 0.

Match of the Day

Newcastle has been one of the standouts sides in the Premier League since the turn of the year. They have been motivated by a relegation scare and a new owner with enormous spending power. Although Brendan Rodgers is having his most challenging season as a Leicester City manager, his side is in their first-ever European semi-final. They could yet sneak into the qualification spots in the league if they win their games in hand. This match is one in which both sides have something to lose, making it an exciting encounter.

About the Game:

Newcastle has had a great start to life under its new Qatar owner. The understanding between all the ranks has delivered exceptional results on the pitch. Eddie Howe’s side is now ten points safe from the drop and looks on course to make operation survival a success. Their defence has been flourishing, conceding more than one goal on just one occasion this year and managing four clean sheets.

A successful run of eight games unbeaten (winning six and drawing two), racking up twenty. These points saved their season. The recent win was a massive relief after the three-game losing run, and they now need to keep the form to maintain or increase their ten-point advantage.

Brazilian striker turned midfielder, Joelinton has been impressive this campaign carrying the ball forward. Chris Wood has been the perfect backup for their top scorer Callum Wilson (six goals), who has not played a game this year. Dan Burn has improved the Magpie’s backline by benching the captain Jamaal Lascelles. Ryan Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin have the pace to burn on the counter, benefiting from Wood’s presence.

Kieran Trippier has an ankle injury, Hayden Isaac and Joe Willock have knee injuries, and Jamal Lewis has a groin injury on the colossal injury list for the Magpies. The notable absentee is their top scorer Wilson who has missed all games this year with a calf injury. Nevertheless, they can have a crucial part in the Premier League title race against Man City and Liverpool, two teams they are yet to play. In addition, they have a hand in the relegation battle playing Norwich and Burnley.

Bet on Newcastle United v Leicester City at bet365

Leicester have been flourishing in recent weeks, unbeaten in the last four games, winning two and drawing two. However, they are enduring their most challenging season under Rodgers with a scare of failing to qualify for Europe. They are eleven points behind sixth-placed West Ham but have played three games less that could leave them within just two points. However, they are flying in the Europa Conference League. Their excellent 2-1 win on Thursday means they will be playing in their first-ever European semi-final.

Leicester produced an impressive first-half performance in the last match, scoring twice to secure a 2 – 1 win against Crystal Palace. The win comes after a 1 – 1 draw against Manchester United. They seem to be shadowing a transitional season adapting to life without Jamie Vardy. James Maddison has taken the mantle as central in all the team does, with his performances a huge determining factor in whether they achieve the European dream.

In his breakthrough season, Dewsbury-Hall has two goal involvements (one goal, one assist). Maddison has had a goal involvement in each of the last three games. Kelechi Iheanacho has big shoes to fill in the attacking department but has been impressive, scoring essential goals. His last goal was the opening goal against Manchester United.

Top scorer Jamie Vardy has played just eighty minutes of football this year with a knee injury. Bertrand Ryan, Wilfred Ndidi, and Danny Ward also have knee injuries. Fatigue could play a factor as they travelled to the Netherlands for the second leg of their Europa League tie against PSV.

Prediction: Leicester to win. Look for live betting odds throughout the game.

About the Game:

Tottenham has been on electric form since they lost 3 – 2 to Manchester United, where their manager Antonio Conte claimed they couldn’t qualify for Europe. A four game-winning run has put them on the brink of reaching Europe, shadowing Arsenal in the quest. They have won all four Premier League home games against the Seagulls, a record only eclipsed against AFC Bournemouth, who they won five maintaining a 100 per cent record. Dejan Kulusevski has recorded the highest number of assists since he set foot at the Premier League level with Harry Kane. They have scored fourteen goals in the four games. Heung Min Son has found the back of the net in the last four games, managing seven goals in this run, including a hat trick in a 4 – 0 win against Aston Villa. Conte’s side will be ruthless with Europe calling.

Brighton faces Tottenham for the second time this year, having lost 2 – 0 in the first match. However, Graham Potter’s side triumphed 2 – 1 against Arsenal, ending a seven-game winless run and extending their unbeaten run in London to five this season, winning two and drawing three. The Seagull’s last three home victories have come on their travels, making them a lethal side and able to disappoint as they did last season, triumphing 1 – 0 at the Amex. There is little ambition for Brighton sitting eleventh but could find pride in finishing in the top half of the table. Neal Maupay, on eight goals, didn’t feature in the last match. Therefore, he will be fresh to start here. Enock Mwepu produced two-goal involvements against Arsenal and is on fine form and the one to watch on the Seagull’s side.

Prediction: Tottenham  to win.

About the Game:

A big win will rejuvenate the team’s confidence that has been drained after just one win in the last seven games that saw them knocked out of the Champions League and fall far from the European race. Ralf Rangnick’s side lost 1 – 0 to relegation battling Everton in their previous game and will be anxious not to slip up again. Five of Man United’s eight league defeats have come on Saturday, but they have not lost a home game since January winning three and drawing three while keeping three clean sheets. Marcus Rashford has scored three times before the fifty-fifth minute against Norwich in three appearances, but with him falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is on the bench again. Europe is a realistic prospect for the Red Devils, but only if they can put a winning run together. However, after Norwich, the Red Devils face Liverpool in midweek, and it’s hard to see them winning that one with the form their rivals are in. Cristiano Ronaldo, on twelve goals, has two in the last two and you’d fancy him to score here.

Teemu Pukki is on course to write history and score ten or more goals in successive seasons for Norwich City. They have lost twelve of the last fifteen Premier League encounters, including the previous four games in a row against Manchester United, winning the other three. Dean Smith won at Old Trafford early in the season with Aston Villa. Norwich beat fellow relegation side Burnley 2 – 0 to move just a point behind them but are still seven points behind seventeenth place Everton. Having ended their eight-game winless run and collected four points from the last two games, Norwich will be motivated to marshal a late push to stay in the Premier League. The Canaries have scored just twice before halftime on their travels this term. Pierre Lees-Melou’s first goal for his side could be hungry to help Pukki in the goal-scoring department.

Prediction: Manchester United to win.

About the Game:

At the start of last month, the Saints were hopeful for a top of the table finish for the first time since the 2016-17 season and hopes of FA Cup glory. However, a poor winless run of six games, losing five and drawing one, saw them crash out of the FA Cup and now sit fourteenth but just four points behind ninth-placed Leicester City. They lost the last match 6 – 0 to Chelsea in the previous game. The Saints have scored the opening goal in seven of their last eleven Premier League meetings against the visitors but have won only one match, drawing three and losing three. Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side has scored and conceded in nineteen different games this season, only eclipsed by West Ham United, who have achieved the fate on twenty occasions. So it’s hard to see the hosts taking anything from this game.

Alexandre Lacazette has seven-goal involvements (five goals, two assists) in six appearances against Southampton. The captain has been involved in more goals against the Saints than against any other side. The Saints will be the perfect opponent to boost the morale and momentum of the team after a run of two consecutive defeats against Crystal Palace and Brighton, which might yet prove fatal to their European hopes. They have lost just one of the last twelve league games against them, winning seven and drawing four will be hoping to complete the double against them. They have to keep pressure on Tottenham, who are cruising and stay close to them before their head-to-head encounter that could decide who takes 4th.

Prediction: Arsenal to win.

Watford v Brentford

  • Quick Glance Odds H: 17/10 D: 23/10 A: 31/20

About the Game:

Watford looked promising for a large chunk of the season’s opening half and looked like they could be the promoted team to take the Premier League by storm. A lethal attacking trio of Ismaila Sarr, Emmanuel Dennis, and Joshua King shocked the giants with memorable wins such as the 4 – 1 win against Manchester United. However, such successes would be the exception rather than the norm. They currently sit six points behind Everton as the second team from the bottom. A win against fellow promoted side Brentford is necessary on the back of nine consecutive home defeats. The Hornets lost 3 – 0 against Leeds United in the previous match, with Roy Hodgson seemingly throwing the towel, saying he has failed to deliver. However, Cucho Hernandez has been inspirational, scoring three of his four goals across the last six outings.

Brentford has a poor record against the Hornets at Vicarage Road, having lost the last seven and drawing one across the previous eight. They could end this poor run and inflict the tenth successive home defeat on Watford. After a catastrophic run of midseason form, the Bees have recorded four wins in the last five League outings that could be the key to their survival. All the four victories had come when Christian Eriksen was on the starting line-up while Ivan Toney yielded six goals in these wins, marshalling the wins since the injury. They triumphed 4 – 1 against Chelsea in their last away win but have not won back to back games since October. They have scored at least once in thirteen League away games.

Prediction: Brentford to win.

About the Game:

The Hammers have earned twenty-five points from the available twenty-seven in their home matches against teams starting the match week in the relegation zone (winning eight, drawing one), winning each of the last six. Their previous home defeat dates back to December 2017. David Moyes’ side has scored fifty-one goals from 135 shots in the Premier League this season (37.8 per cent); only Chelsea eclipses that tally (38.1 per cent). Michail Antonio has scored in each of his side’s last three Premier League goals against Burnley. The 32-year-old hasn’t scored in any of his previous twelve appearances but has been pivotal in the team’s attack. Jarrod Bowen has nine goals, and eight assists have been the Hammer’s serious goal threat cutting in from the left. Football betting fans might be tempted to back him in the anytime goalscorer market.

Burnley has found a way of staying in contention for Premier League survival despite not playing flashy attacking football, reaching the heights of qualifying for Europe back in the 2018–19 season. However, this has been a season to forget, and it could still worsen if the Clarets don’t escape the drop. It’s a tough ask. They are four points behind Everton, who occupy the slot just above the red zone. They have won two of their last four Premier League trips to the London Stadium, as many as they did in the previous twenty-one, and will need every positive motivation as every game is important to them. Maxwell Cornet, on seven goals, has been the most lethal player in the Burnley side who has not been inspiring in the attack this season. What may be of some comfort is their remaining fixtures, with only Tottenham standing out ain their remaining seven after this fixture. Although their last game of the season is against rejuvenated Newcastle, the chances are that their fate will already be sealed by then though. As we went to press the news has broken that Sean Dyche has been sacked as the manager, a shock move by Burnley.

Prediction: West Ham to win.
