Hannon’s Swift Asset Can Dash to Glory in Weatherbys Super Sprint

Swift Asset can give Richard Hannon Jnr victory in Newbury’s Weatherbys Super Sprint on Saturday afternoon. The Wiltshire-based trainer has won this contest three times during the past four years. He has won it four times in total. Additionally, Richard Hannon Snr won the five-furlong contest a remarkable seven times between 1992 and 2009.

In a yard brimming full of juvenile sprinting talent purchased relatively cheaply at public auction, the Hannon stable always has plenty of ammunition for this contest. The race is handicapped according to each horse’s purchase price when sold as yearlings.

Of the five runners the stable will send to the start on Saturday, Swift Asset has the most potential, having raced just twice and winning his most recent start – a ten-runner Windsor maiden race – comfortably.

Bank On Emily Upjohn in the Irish Oaks

Saturday’s biggest race is the Juddmonte Irish Oaks at The Curragh. It is a contest that should fall to John and Thady Gosden’s Emily Upjohn. Massively unlucky when stumbling and forfeiting several lengths at the start of the Epsom Oaks – only to be beaten in a photo-finish – the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes winner looks to have plenty in hand of her rivals.

Even the very best betting sites have Frankie Dettori’s mount priced as an odds-on favorite. Resultantly, the recommendation is to make Emily Upjohn a banker selection in a system bet.

Winners Nothing New for Marwan at Chester

Dr. Marwan Koukash loves to run his horses at Chester, and the colorful owner always has plenty of winners at his local track. Just a week ago his The New Marwan landed a ten-furlong handicap at the tricky Cheshire venue.

In good overall form – and courtesy of an excellent draw from stall one in Saturday’s 5.30 pm contest – the five-year-old is expected to run another big race. The New Marwan should be available at a workable price and so worthy of a small each-way financial interest.

Pearl Is Ripe for Appleby

Charlie Appleby’s 2022 statistics are remarkable. Godolphin’s private trainer is one of very few British trainers to be operating at a profit to level-stakes bets on all of his runners. Furthermore, the Derby-winning trainer is working at a 32 percent win ratio.

Appleby’s Eternal Pearl, a lightly raced daughter of Frankel, can add to his impressive strike rate in Newmarket’s 3.22 pm, a listed fillies’ stakes. The three-year-old demolished a field of novices on her most recent outing and looks to be improving rapidly.
