The Best 2023 Harry, Meghan and Elon Special Bets

Will Harry and Meghan have a third child in 2023? Will the couple permanently move back to the UK by the end of the year? Who knows, but you can bet on it! These propositions are just two examples of the zany ‘2023 specials’ currently offered by many of the top novelty betting sites.

A new sibling for Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who will be four in May, and one-year-old Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, anytime during the next 51 weeks, is quoted at 3/1 found in our William Hill review of the sportsbook.

Understanding Prince William and Kate Middleton have three children – and Meghan Markle does not like to be outdone – is to recognize the bet does not represent the worst suggestion since Liz Truss may fail to see out 50 days as Prime Minister.

The couple will surely not return to the UK anytime soon though. 5/1 is folly. There is probably a better chance of Jeremy Clarkson moving to Montecito, Santa Barbara County, California, and buying the mansion sat opposite the redundant royals’ home – next door to Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.

The Time for Musk to Double Up

William Hill also has plenty of betting propositions involving Elon Musk. The business magnate and investor is quoted at 2/1 to sell a majority shareholding of Twitter in 2023. No value there! But, interestingly, he is 2/1 to top Forbes Rich List. It is a mantle he lost in December 2022.

Only the SpaceX owner knows if those odds are out of this world. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist – the corny gags are rolling off the keyboard today – to deduce the 14/1 about the South African-born 51-year-old being given the 2023 Time Person of the Year accolade represents outstanding value.

Musk took this award in 2021 when the magazine stated: “The richest man in the world does not own a house and has recently been selling off his fortune. He tosses satellites into orbit and harnesses the sun; he drives a car he created that uses no gas and barely needs a driver.”

“With a flick of his finger, the stock market soars or swoons. An army of devotees hangs on his every utterance. He dreams of Mars as he bestrides Earth, square-jawed and indomitable.”

As a previous winner, many will ignore Musk’s chances. But Barack Obama, George W. Bush, the American Soldier (representing U.S. military forces around the world), Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, Deng Xiaoping and Ronald Reagan all claimed Time Magazine’s special edition front cover more than once during the past 40 years.

History Suggests Ireland Can Outpoint the UK in Eurovision

Maybe the best of all 2023 special bets is the 4/1 quote about Ireland finishing ahead of the UK in May’s Eurovision Song Contest. Bet365, the betting firm that offers the bet, states all wagers on this matchup are void if Ireland fails to qualify for the final.

This is good news on two counts. Firstly, Ireland has failed to qualify for seven of the last eight Eurovision finals. Secondly, if Ireland does qualify in 2023, the country’s song will probably not be complete rubbish!

Of course, the UK came second in 2022, but the sequence of results beforehand is dire. It reads: 26th, 26th, 24th, 15th, 24th, 24th, 17th, 19th and 25th. But Ireland, in its past 16 appearances, claimed two wins, a second, and an additional four top-10 finishes.

Ireland made its Eurovision Song Contest debut in 1965 and is currently the most successful country in history. The nation has won the prize seven times in total. This year 330 songs were submitted to the selection process. The best six will be showcased on a special edition of the Irish talk show ‘The Late Late Show’ on February 3rd.

In a new move by broadcaster RTE, the traditional judging panel will not have any voting rights and will be in place purely to voice their opinions. The act and song heading to Liverpool will therefore be selected by a public televote.
