Red Bull Stars Compare Poker Strategy in New Video Series

Online poker, casino, and betting site PokerStars has launched a new YouTube series of videos that feature exclusive interviews and insight from the Oracle Red Bull Formula 1 Racing team it sponsors.

Titled ‘Between the Lines’, the series compares strategic and bold moves from the key races of the 2022 racing season with nail-biting final table moments from one of the most prestigious live tours in the poker world, the European Poker Tour.

The first episode, Fortune Favours the Brave, features Sergio Perez, who took the chequered flag at the iconic Monaco street circuit in 2022. He speaks about his team’s brave, early decision that led to him winning the most prestigious race on the calendar.

Three more episodes of Between the Lines will be released during the coming weeks. Each focuses on the crossover between the two sports: putting adversity in the rear-view mirror, the importance of patience, and how staying one step ahead of the competition is critical to securing a victory.

Bull, Stars and Neymar on the Ball

Christian Horner, Team Principal and CEO of Oracle Red Bull Racing said: “We loved being part of this content series developed by PokerStars. Strategy sits at the heart of everything that we do here at Oracle Red Bull Racing – just as it does at the poker table. The series really drove home the synergies between the two sports.”

The PokerStars/Red Bull collaboration is not limited to promotional videos and its logos placed on the all-conquering 2023 Red Bull race car. On the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix, the online poker and betting site rolled out its brand ambassador, Brazilian football star, Neymar, to take part in a celebrity poker game.

It was played at a Tag Heuer party, held at the floating Red Bull Energy Station moored next to the F1 paddock entrance. But, away from honouring sponsors’ commitments, many Formula 1 racers are known to enjoy playing poker. Of the current generation of drivers, Fernando Alonso is believed to host a regular Friday night game for friends and colleagues.

Poker and F1 Is One Big Party

PokerStars, says that it prides itself on “providing its community around the world with best-in-class entertainment with poker, casino, and sports betting whilst always ensuring safe and responsible play”. But it is not the only gaming site that is in a partnership with a Formula 1 team.

Entain, the leading global sports betting and gaming entertainment group, announced at the start of 2021 that its PartyCasino and PartyPoker brands had entered into a multi-year partnership with McLaren Racing.

Subsequently, Daniel Ricciardo, McLaren’s driver at the time, appeared in promotional videos for McLaren Turbo Series Opening Freeroll tournaments. The currently side-lined Australian star also voiced a PartyPoker/McLaren partnership feature that promoted responsible gambling.

Interestingly, in early 2022, former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan teamed up with a Partygaming co-founder, Vikrant Bhargava, to mount a potential bid for online gaming group Playtech.

Playtech develops and licenses software for online and land-based gaming businesses offering casino, poker, bingo, live games, sports betting, fixed odds games, and live dealer casinos. Its customers include BoyleSports, bet365 and Ladbrokes.
