FA Cup Third Round Replay: Wolves v Liverpool

Wolves and Liverpool entertained us with one of the most exciting games of the FA Cup, where Wolverhampton Wanderers had a potential winning goal ruled out for a controversial offside call. The decision sets them up for a third-round replay against the defending Champions.

They won their Premier League encounter against West Ham by a 1 – 0 scoreline bouncing back from a quarter-final elimination in the EFL Cup. However, the four-time FA Cup winners don’t boast a good record against Liverpool, with just two wins in the last fourteen games (eleven defeats, one draw).

Impressively both wins came in the FA Cup, raising their prospects to repeat the same excellence here.

Julen Lopetegui needs to be weary of his side’s slip-ups in FA Cup replays as they did in the previous two eliminations. Hee-chan Hwang scored the decisive equalising goal and will hope to have an impact after scoring the opening goal in four of the last five goalscoring outings.

Liverpool has been dipping in performance levels and will be glad they are still alive in the FA Cup. However, they need to put in a much better performance than they showed at the weekend when they had an afternoon to forget, losing 3 – 0 to Brighton.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has conceded eight goals in the last three games showing shades of ruins for once a solid water-tight defence.

The Reds have been eliminated just once in the third round in eleven seasons and will battle to defend their FA Cup title after already falling out of the EFL Cup. However, they have not performed well in their travels this campaign, winning four (two draws, seven defeats) in the thirteen games they have played on the road, managing just two shutouts.

The Anfield hopefuls will have their fingers crossed that new acquisition Cody Gakpo will show his worth as the youngster has not lost in the previous twenty-one games he has scored (seventeen wins, four draws).

Match betting: Wolves 23/10, Draw 13/5, Liverpool 11/10.

There are a couple of Bet Boosts available at bet365 worth considering. Raúl Jiménez scored in Wolves’ 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest last Wednesday. If you fancy the 31-year-old to score at any time, the result to be Wolves or a tie and over two goals, this is available at 8/1 (boosted from 7/1).

Alternatively – You can back Mo Salah to score at any time. Liverpool to qualify and over nine corners in the match is available as a Bet Boost at 7/1 (boosted from 6/1).

Whoever wins the game tonight will face an away trip to Brighton, the team that beat Liverpool at the weekend.

FA Cup Third Round Replay: West Brom v Chesterfield

An encounter that produced a high-scoring spectacle with six goals scored required a replay after sharing the spoils 3 – 3. We hope the replay will be as exciting as the first encounter.

Brandon Thomas-Asante scored in additional time to save the five-time winners an embarrassing exit in the hands of National League side Chesterfield.

New West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has been on an impressive managerial bounce overseeing nine wins in their last twelve games. They won 3 – 2 over the weekend against Luton Town, scoring eleven goals in their previous two games, making this a likely high-scoring encounter.

The Baggies are on a five-game unbeaten run (winning four, drawing one); we root for them to win, mainly because they are playing at home and qualify for the next round.

Thomas- Asante scored twice in the previous game; thus, the prospects of him being the match-winner for his side are high.

Chesterfield gave one of the finest performances of the FA Cup especially coming against a Championship promotion contender.

The National League side is in fine form in position four in the table and could use this game to set the pace for the clash against leaders Notts County. They will be hoping to secure a slot in the fourth round for the first time since 2015, with selection for the two upcoming critical games seemingly a headache for Cook.

However, they cannot be discounted for their run in the cup after defeating two League Two clubs, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton, to reach the third round. We expect them to give a tough fight against the Championship side.

Armando Dobra scored twice in the 3 – 3 draw and has scored three goals in the last two games.

Match betting: West Brom 2/5, Draw 17/4, Chesterfield 11/10.

FA Cup Third Round Replay: Leeds v Cardiff

The Whites recovered from two goals down to draw 2 – 2 in the first game, but such is the inconsistency around Leeds at the moment; they were then beaten 1 – 0 in the league by Aston Villa to drop close to the relegation zone. They will be playing in their first FA Cup replay for the first time since 2013, which will provide them with a distraction from the league.

Jesse Marsch needs to worry that Leeds United have been eliminated five consecutive times in the third round and needs to bring his best side and game to get a result.

Elland Road will be glad to host only their second FA Cup game in ten years, winning both games and ending a ten-game run of away matches.

Patrick Bamford returned from injury to score and hopes to score his fourth career goal against Cardiff to inspire his side to the next round.

Cardiff has failed to see off an impressive performance for the second consecutive game despite leading beyond the eightieth minute.

They blew a 2 – 0 lead to draw 2 – 2 against Leeds United and followed this up in their league match with a 1 – 1 draw against Wigan by conceding late in additional time.

Mark Hudson was shown the door with his side sailing dangerously close to the relegation zone and did not oversee the first tie that the team he built came so close to winning.

Dean Whitehead takes the responsibility hoping to end a nine-game run without a win (six draws, three defeats).

The Bluebirds have scored at least three goals in the last three FA Cup replays (one loss, two wins), with the only defeat coming through penalties.

Jaden Philogene-Bidace scored the opening goal in his previous four goalscoring matches, including in the reverse fixture.

Match betting: Leeds 1/3, Draw 4/1, Chesterfield 9/1.

FA Cup Third Round Replay: Accrington Stanley v Boreham Wood

Accrington has won twice since the 1 – 1 draw against Boreham Wood, beating Lincoln City in penalties to qualify for the semi-finals of the EFL trophy and a 2 – 0 triumph against Bristol Rovers in the League.

Despite their excellence in the knockout competitions, they are struggling in the league sitting just one point of the relegation zone, having accumulated twenty-five points from twenty-four games.

The Reds were in the fourth round of the FA Cup last in 2018-19, where Derby County eliminated them. However, Aaron Pressley scored both goals in his side’s triumph in the EFL trophy can produce such a strong performance that can be the difference in quality between the two sides to send his side through.

Boreham Wood head to the replay having drawn 1 – 1 against Notts County, who top the table.

Luke Garrard’s team has drawn by a 1 – 1 scoreline in the previous three games scoring a single goal in the last four games.

They play a team two divisions higher and could face a tough challenge trying to match their wins against Bristol Rovers, Wealdstone, and Eastleigh.

They scored late to equalise the game against Accrington Stanley to earn a second chance to qualify in a replay. Lee Ndlovu scored with twelve minutes left to send Meadow Park into a frenzy. The odds are against them in this encounter, but Boreham can potentially upset their hosts.

All the games listed take place on Tuesday, January 17, except for the Leeds v Cardiff game on Wednesday. The match between Accrington Stanley & Boreham Wood has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
