Ahead of Week 13, Four Teams Share Super Bowl Favouritism

The NFL regular season, now entering week 13, is proving a remarkable season for the Philadelphia Eagles. The team has lost just one of their 11 games and is now top-priced +430 to win February’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas. The team shares favouritism with the Kansas City Chiefs, the current Super Bowl champions, and the high-flying San Francisco 49ers.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for three touchdowns in a thrilling game against the Buffalo Bills in the big Sunday night game. He also carried the ball for two touchdowns, including the winning play in overtime. If he continues in his current form, Hurts will surely win the regular season Most Valuable Player award.

Hurts is trading as short as +190 to win the accolade, so the +200 offered by the best football betting sites will appeal to many value seekers. Hurts had a good term in 2022, but he is on course to have his best season yet. The Eagles already look nailed on to make the playoffs.

Can Dallas or the 49ers clip the Eagles’ Wings?

The team face a tough matchup against NFC East challengers, the Dallas Cowboys (8-3), in Week 13. A meeting with the rampant San Francisco 49ers (8-3) follows in Week 14. Even if the Eagles were to lose both games, they would still be long odds-on to win their final four games of the regular season.

They are scheduled to play the Seattle Seahawks (6-5), a struggling New York Giants (4-8) both home and away, plus a woeful Arizona Cardinals (2-10), whose season is already over as far as the playoffs are concerned.

North, South, West, and East Leaders

The San Francisco 49ers were unstoppable in their first five games of the season, but for some inexplicable reason, the wheels came off in their next three. They are, however, safely back on track to win the NFC West division. The Eagles and Baltimore Ravens (9-3) are the only teams they must fear in their last half-a-dozen games.

It is the same story for the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3), two wins clear of the Denver Broncos (6-5) in the AFC West. Apart from what could be a tough match against the Buffalo Bills, they should have little concerns for the rest of the regular season.

The Baltimore Ravens have been producing solid performances all season long. They have a firm grip on the AFC North, as do the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC South. The Miami Dolphins (8-3) are a couple of wins clear of the Buffalo Bills (6-6) in the AFC East.

The Dolphins have a tough enough run into the end of the season but are unlikely to be stopped. BetMGM quotes -1100 on the Florida side winning the AFC East, and they are currently trading on +900 in the outright Super Bowl betting market.

Lions Roar, Panthers Are Tame

The Detroit Lions (8-3) suffered a shock defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers (5-6) in their latest game but remain on course to make the playoffs and are two wins clear of the Minnesota Vikings (6-6) in the NFC North. They also have a game in hand on the Vikings. Like Miami, they are quoted on -1100 to win their division.

Apart from the Carolina Panthers (1-10), who will be happy to see the end of the season, the NFC South is still wide open. The Atlanta Falcons (5-6), New Orleans Saints (5-6) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7) will battle it out. It is anyone’s guess who will come out on top.

At this stage, the teams most likely to gain an automatic place in the playoffs are the Dolphins, Ravens, Jaguars, and the Chiefs in the AFC. The Chiefs are +200 to win the AFC Conference, with the Ravens available on +400 in places. The Dolphins are top-priced on +500 at bet365.

All but Five Teams Are Live

The wild card slots in the conference are still up for grabs. Apart from the once mighty New England Patriots (2-9), the rest are still fighting for a spot in the playoffs. The NFC should see the 49ers and Eagles progress along with the Detroit Lions, while the Cowboys appear odds-on to make the playoffs as a wild-card pick.

The three teams in the conference that will struggle to make the playoffs are the Cardinals, Panthers and Bears. It also looks improbable for the Giants and Commanders, who have everything to do in the NFC East.

The playoffs picture is getting clearer, but as has been the case all season long, there are sure to be some upsets. Things can change very quickly in football and expert punters know, at the current odds, the top three in the Super Bowl betting take just 54.6% of the betting market.
