Ramaswamy Might Win Backing of a Strong Trump in Election

Conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of, and attempt to, obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. These are the latest charges leveled against former U.S. President Donald Trump.

They represent Trump’s third criminal indictment, his second federal indictment, and his first for his alleged conduct while in office as President. And yet, while Trump faces more years behind bars than Charles Bronson, punters, and opinion polls cannot get enough of the 77-year-old in the race to win the 60th Presidential election.

Nine months have passed since Donald Trump announced his candidacy to seek a second term as the USA’s Commander-in-Chief. At the time, his chances of returning to power were considered relatively slim. He was quoted on +150 to gain the Republican nomination and +350 to win the November 2024 Presidential Election.

But there is clearly no such thing as bad publicity in U.S. politics. The recent spectacle of Trump arriving at a Washington D.C. District Court to face a magistrate resulted in his odds – which have tumbled month-on-month – shortening once again.

The Big Two Are Running Again

Priced -275 to garner the Republican Party’s nomination and +200 to regain the Presidency, Trump’s odds are shorter than they have been at any time since he exited the Oval Office on January 20th, 2021. That day his closing words on the White House grounds were: “We will be back in some form. Have a good life – we will see you soon!”

It is not only Trump that has seen his odds collapse in the Presidential betting market. In November, BestBettingSites.com reported Joe Biden had not confirmed his intention to run for a second term. At the time, he could be backed at odds of +450 to win the 2024 election.

At the end of April, the 80-year-old declared he was running for re-election. He is now -300 to land the Democratic nomination and +175 to win the election. Biden is in a solid position to land the odds on the first of these propositions – as no sitting president in modern American history has been ousted through an intra-party challenge.

The Advisor Taking Aim At Top Job

So far, besides Biden, only two people have officially declared their candidacy for the Democratic nomination: 71-year-old Marianne Williamson – best known as Oprah Winfrey’s ‘spiritual advisor’ – and Robert F. Kennedy Jr, an environmental lawyer, outspoken vaccine opponent, and the son of the assassinated U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy.

Williamson is a dismissive +2500 to make history and take the Democratic nomination. 69-year-old Kennedy, the nephew of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, is quoted between +700 and +1200 with the best political betting sites.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, while not yet throwing his hat into the ring, has maintained his 6/1 odds for almost a year. He remains the second favorite to succeed Biden as the Democratic candidate. However, Vice President Kamala Harris has drifted from +500 to +2500 with BetMGM.

Ramaswamy Appears Best of the Dirty Dozen

Trump has a dozen declared rivals for the Republican candidacy. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, once odds on for the role, is now out to +700. Except for Vivek Ramaswamy (+900), every other potential runner is +2500 or higher.

Ramaswamy is a fascinating contender. The 37-year-old biotech entrepreneur – worth an estimated $630 million – who attended Yale and Harvard Universities, has some radical campaign positions. They include Increasing the voting age to 25 – albeit people under 25 could earn the right to vote by completing national service.

Furthermore, he proposes to shut down the Department of Education, the FBI, and the IRS, replacing them with new organizations. Banning “gender confusion ‘care’ for minors”, halting any mandate to measure carbon dioxide, and pardoning “defendants of politicized prosecutions” – which would include Donald Trump and “peaceful January 6th protesters” – are other items printed on his ticket.

Playing the Get Out of Jail Card

40 years Trump’s junior – but seemingly equally as radical – Ramaswamy is showing the former Apprentice star a genuine ‘get out of jail card‘ should he come to power. If things become any bleaker for Trump and he is forced to accept running a Presidential campaign from behind bars is futile, he may, understandably, throw his support behind the newcomer.

Priced +1600 – and customers have already matched $5.4 million in bets on the Presidential Election market – Vivek Ramaswamy does not appear to be a bad bet to win the Republican candidacy and go on to claim to take the Presidency.
