Features and Overview
This operator is another that has managed to almost completely replicate the features, markets and betting markets of the web platform. Despite the wealth of features and betting markets, the William Hill app retains a spacious feel. The design is fantastic and the bookmaker’s classic blue, white and yellow colour scheme helps to make everything very easy on the eye. The homepage contains links to pretty much everything you would need, from the sports and highlights, to the bet slip and in-play areas. The in-play arena retains a similar feel to the online platform and has almost all of the same features available. It really is a credit to the bookie that they’ve crammed in so many details yet kept everything looking great.
There are a nice number of promotions, with an especially large amount of enhanced odds specials, some of which are exclusive to the app. William Hill won our test for having the lowest minimum bet stake for its online platform, which is just 3p. You’ll be pleased to hear that this feature has been carried over, so those who like to bet with low stakes for fun will be right at home here. Statistics, live commentary and the huge range of betting options is also there. An intuitive bet slip is used to make keeping track of multiple bets easily, but unfortunately there is no quick bet option, for those who like to place quick fire singles.
How Easy Is It to Place a Bet?
Placing a bet here is as simple and easy as with any other sportsbook on the market. In many cases it can also be a lot quicker, since the homepage has quick links to current and upcoming fixture highlights, as well as quick links to specific leagues and tournaments. This means that quite often you can head straight to the betting options for a fixture from the homepage.
Above you can see the usual process for placing a bet with the William Hill mobile app. First off, choose your sport market, either from a quick link on the homepage if there is one, or by using the A-Z sport list. After this, the list of available tournaments and leagues for the sport will be shown. Hit the competition in which the fixture takes place and all the available fixtures will appear. Tap the fixture you want to bet on and all the available bets will then be shown. Simply tap the odds of the bet of choice and this bet will automatically be added to the bet slip. You can repeat this process to add more selections if you want to make a multiple bet, or several single bets. Head into the bet slip and then type your stake into the stake box. Once you’re ready, hit the place bet button to confirm the bet.
Great Functionality & Navigation
The app looks and feels very similar to the online platform which in my opinion is a very good thing. On the homepage, there are quick links to a daily fixture list, live betting and statistics. The statistics contained on the app are fantastic and come in very handy. In the centre of the screen there is a small fixture list for the top bets of the day, along with further tabs for highlights and coupons. A floating bar at the bottom of the page provides an A-Z list of available sport markets, the bet slip and any open bets. The layout is super simple then which translates into smooth navigation.
Live streams are available in abundance especially for horse and greyhound racing. There’s also an acceptable number of streams for football and other sports, but the bookmaker seems to place a premium on those events which cost money to live stream, which explains the higher number of horse and greyhound racing live streams. One thing our tests did pick up on is that the app could be a little sluggish when betting in-play. There are always minor delays involved with in-play betting, such as when odds are being updated or when bets are being processed. This didn’t hinder our ability to place bets or the experience itself too much, but the system definitely lagged a little in comparison to some other sports betting mobile apps.
Ultimately, there’s not too much in the way of extras or promotions on the sports betting app. Even so, you can watch a whole range of live streams associated with horse racing and greyhounds, which is a great asset.
Widest Range of Payment Methods
There’s nothing really exclusive, which is a little disappointing. While almost all of the betting sites we’ve reviewed didn’t have an exclusive welcome bonus for the mobile app, most had some sort of enhanced odds or price boost on selected bets. The William Hill sports betting app has neither, but the welcome bonus to the online platform can of course be played through. Clicking on the promotions tab takes the user to the device’s internet browser, where the list of promotions is shown. Just like with the online platform, the promotions list is small, though there are always one or two offers available.
As I mentioned above, there’s no exclusive mobile bonus offer available for the mobile app. Only one of our reviewed betting sites had an exclusive bonus, so the bookmaker cannot be criticised for this. The welcome bonus to the online platform is solid and can be played through using the app. On the plus side, the great payment range at William Hill is fully available for mobile and tablet users. That means that punters have one of the widest range of different deposit methods on the market at their disposal when using the William Hill mobile app. The bookmaker ranked top in our tests for deposit methods and their processing times and it’s no different with the mobile app. The range is huge, including Entropay, Cheque and also the exclusive William Hill Cash Direct deposit system.
App Download for iOS, Android and Windows
It’s a clean sweep for William Hill in the compatibility area as it joins Ladbrokes to be one of our reviewed bookies to offer apps for iOS, Android and Windows devices.

It’s a great benefit for Android and especially Windows phone users to be able to use a specialised sports betting app, rather than accessing the web platform via their mobile browser. The apps are customised to function especially for each device, while using the browser version on a mobile or tablet is often a clunky and rough experience. This can cause real problems when betting in-play, or trying to access certain areas or statistics for example. The app versions for all systems are really great here – so Android and Windows users who don’t have the biggest choice when it comes to a sports betting app – should definitely consider William Hill.
Conclusion – A Great on the Move Sports Betting Experience
Having the full range of sports and betting markets as the web platform is always a strong indicator of a betting site’s mobile app being great. William Hill is no exception: the full range of sports and in particular football markets, are a big attraction for punters keen on betting on the move. The look and feel adds to the attraction. Navigation is seamless and making bets, cashing out and accessing live-streams is straight forward. Add to the fact that there are live-streams and plenty of useful statistics on offer too and the app is a definite winner. Users of iOS, Android and Windows phones and tablets can download and use the app too, meaning almost no-one is left out.
Strengths and Weaknesses of the William Hill App
- Major Strengths
- full range of football markets
- Minor Strengths
- intuitive navigation
- some live-streams
- Minor Weaknesses
- in-play betting can be slow
There aren’t really any weaknesses to highlight either. I mentioned above that live betting was sometimes a little sluggish, but this is being picky and the function works absolutely fine. On the whole, the William Hill sports betting mobile app comes absolutely recommended.

Where can I download the William Hill Android App?
The Android app can be downloaded from the bookmaker's website as the Google store does not host gambling or sports betting apps. Use the link at the top of the page to head straight to the download area.
