Parimatch Teams up with Dota 2’s EPIC League
Ukranian bookmaker Parimatch has become the official betting partner of Dota 2’s EPIC League. The operator also has links with football with ties to Shakhtar Donetsk.
Season two of the esports EPIC league will be sponsored by sports betting operator Primatch after an official betting partnership agreement was reached.
Parimatch’s branding will be displayed during Russian broadcasts of the games which will be provided by media studio RuHub Studio.
Parimatch has operations in Cyprus, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan. This deal will raise the company’s profile in Russia, an emerging market for the operator who operates a franchise model in the region.
The EPIC League is an online tournament that features ten teams who battle for a total prize pot of $500,000 (£377.80m) for the first division and $50,000 (£37.78m) for the second division. The first division features eight teams who had a direct invite; Team Secret, Alliance, OG, Team Liquid, Virtus.pro, Team Nigma, Vikin.gg. Two other teams mudgolems and Just Error earned their place in the league by winning a closed qualifier.

Parimatch is one of Eastern Europe’s oldest bookmakers, founded in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1994. The company entered the Russian market four years later. They were one of the pioneers of online betting, launching their website in 2000.
Recently the company have been more aggressive with their brand marketing, hiring Irish professional mixed martial fighter Conor McGregor as a brand ambassador in 2019. Later in the year they also employed former heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson.
Parimatch is also the official betting partner of Ukrainian football team Shakhtar Donetsk. Shakhtar are well known to English sports betting fans; the club won the 2009 UEFA Cup Final, beating Werder Bremen in the Istanbul final 2-1 after extra time. One of their most famous exports is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Now playing for Roma, the Armenian scored 25 goals in the 2012–13 season and went on to have spells at Manchester United and Arsenal.
Last season, the club retained Ukrainian Premier League for the fourth time in a row, they also reached the semi-finals of the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League.
