Premier League Matchday 07 Preview – Prediction + Tips 2019/20

It’s week seven of the EPL, and last week’s result brought about a few surprises, none more so than West Ham’s wonderful victory against United.

Elsewhere, Man City gave Watford an absolute drubbing to keep up pace with Liverpool at the top. Already it is a foregone conclusion that the title will be decided between these two. Now let’s get to this week’s games.

Match of the Day

The match of the weekend goes to the clash of these old foes. Once over it was the game that would decide the title, now it is little more than a battle for sixth place. Even so, we still expect a good match.

Manchester United v Arsenal

  • Venue: Old Trafford
  • Monday 30 September 20:00
  • Referee: Kevin Friend
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 11/8 D: 5/2 A: 19/10

About the Game:

Manchester United are a sinking ship. It is only time until Ole Gunnar is sacked. The squad is weak, and the future looks pretty bleak for the once illustrious club. They hung on to be Rochdale in the League Cup during the week, and shows you where they stand.

Despite the current predicament, history is on Man United’s side. They are unbeaten in the past 12 Premier League home games against Arsenal, winning eight and drawing four. They will hope this can continue, but with weak midfield and no out and out striker, it seems as though it will be a difficult task.

Bet on Man United v Arsenal at Betway

Arsenal’s away form has been indifferent so far, with one win, draw, and loss respectively. The biggest weakness Arsenal have showed is their defensive frailty. They have conceded 11 goals in 6 PL games so far this season, and until this changes they can’t be considered top four contenders.

Patrick Aubameyang has started the season on fire, with six goals already and will need to shoulder more of the load with Alexandre Lacazette out until October with an ankle problem. Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney could be back in contention and would be a boost for the defence.

Prediction: Arsenal to win – Arsenal’s attack and midfield will be too much for United’s weak team to handle.

Rest of the Premier League Games

Here’s our previews and betting tips for all the rest of the weekend’s action.

Sheffield United v Liverpool

  • Venue: Bramall Lane
  • Saturday 28 September 12:30
  • Referee: Anthony Taylor
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 8/1 D: 17/4 A: 1/3

About the Game:

Sheffield United have had a great start to the season. With two wins, two draws, and two losses. If they carry on this form they will be more than safe come the end of the season.  They are a shining example of what promoted sides can achieve.

Liverpool continued their march of dominance last week in the league. They have won all games in the league this season, and they are just a joy to watch. Their form in the Champions League show they can be beaten, but The Blades aren’t exactly CL quality, with all due respect, so we expect another Liverpool win in this one.

Prediction: Liverpool to win – Is there any other result possible?

Aston Villa v Burnley

  • Venue: Villa Park
  • Saturday 28 September 15:00
  • Referee: Lee Mason
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 13/10 D: 12/5 A: 21/10

About the Game:

Aston Villa have only won once in the league so far this season, and find themselves in the relegation zone. Despite some good performances they are truly struggling for form. They need to pick up sharply and it is looking like it will be a long season for the Villans.

Burnley are looking like a decent side this season and the partnership of Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood is really blossoming into something beautiful. Although the have two losses so far, they have faced some difficult fixtures, and they will be challenging for the top half come the end of the season.

Prediction: Burnley to win – A difficult game to predict, but Burnley have a little bit of extra quality.

Bournemouth v West Ham

West Ham Form Guide LLLDD
  • Venue: Vitality Stadium
  • Saturday 28 September 15:00
  • Referee: Stuart Atwell
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 6/4 D: 5/2 A:7/4

About the Game:

Both teams suffered embarrassing midweek defeats, with Bournemouth losing 2-0 to Burton and West Ham 4-0 to Oxford. This comes on the back of good Premier League form, and both sides will be looking to right the ship in this one.

The two Wilson’s, Harry and Callum have been in fine form for the Cherries and they haven’t lost to West Ham in their last 3 encounters. On the other hand West Ham have not lost away from home this season, and are looking like a very decent side. Pellegrini’s men are turning out consistent performances, something they have struggled with in previous seasons.

Prediction: Draw – Both teams are pretty even and with be happy to settle with a point.

Chelsea v Brighton

  • Venue: Stamford Bridge
  • Saturday 28 September 15:00
  • Referee: Andre Marriner
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 2/5 D: 15/4 A: 7/1

About the Game:

Chelsea have won every league game they have every played against Brighton, and it is an ominous sign for the Seagulls. Look for a Tammy Abraham goal in this one, as the young Englishman is looking to continue his fine start to the season.

Brighton are struggling this season, and haven’t won since the opening day. They have drawn their previous two PL games, and this is an encouraging sign for them. What’s more, the world-class striker, Glenn Murray is set to return and could add some much needed firepower to the line-up.

Prediction: Chelsea win and Abraham to score – The Blues will win, look to enhance the odds with a goalscorer prediction too.

Crystal Palace v Norwich City

  • Venue: Selhurst Park
  • Saturday 28 September 15:00
  • Referee: Jon Moss
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 19/20 D: 13/5 A: 14/5

About the Game:

Crystal Palace are the joint lowest scorers in the Premier League this season, and Roy Hodgson’s negative tactics seem to inspire little confidence that this can improve. Wifried Zaha has not really done much so far, and his summer transfer saga seems to be really weighing down on him and affecting his performances.

Norwich have lost all games away from home this season, and have conceded eight goals in three games in that process. It’s not a good sign and they will struggle in the relegation dogfight unless they can improve this in coming weeks and months.

Prediction: Crystal Palace to Win – A tough victory for Roy Hodgson’s men.

Tottenham v Southampton

  • Venue: Tottemham Hotspur Stadium
  • Saturday 28 September 15:00
  • Referee: Graham Scott
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 2/5 D: 15/4 A: 7/1

About the Game:

In all honesty Spurs have not had a good season. They are still nursing their CL final hangover and are already too far behind the top two to even think about mounting any sort of challenge. Once more it seems they will have to settle for qualifying for the Champions League. It looks like Pochettino could be out soon.

Although Southampton have won two on the bounce away from home, they don’t have good history when it comes to playing Tottenham. Indeed, they have lost seven of their last eight matches against the, and it could be more of the same this weekend.

Prediction: Tottenham to win – They severely need to get their season back on track, and there’s no better place than home.

Wolves v Watford
Wolves Form Guide WDLDD

  • Venue: Molineux Stadium
  • Saturday 28 September 15:00
  • Referee: Paul Tierney
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 17/20 D: 12/5 A: 7/2

About the Game:

Wolves’ season has not got going so far and they still remain win-less. They have drawn four of six games, and should really be doing better. Even so, the league is in its early stages and one win would propel them up the table. It looks like this is the week to kick start their season with a first win.

Watford are in free fall. They slumped to a disgraceful 8-0 defeat against City last week, and truly look like a team that will be relegated come the end of the season. In comparison to last year it is a complete reversal of fortunes and they will be bitterly disappointed with where they find themselves.

Prediction: Wolves to win – Watford are not looking good and will struggle again in this game.

Everton v Manchester City
Everton Form Guide LDDDW
Manchester City Form Guide WWLWD
  • Venue: Goodison Park
  • Saturday 28 September 17:30
  • Referee: Michael Oliver
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 9/1 D: 9/2 A: 3/10

About the Game:

Everton lost at home last week to newly promoted Sheffield United and it looks as though the same old Toffees are still there. Moise Kean has not scored any league goals, and Everton fans are beginning to question Marco Silva’s tactics. They will be hoping to snatch something from this game but it seems unrealistic.

Manchester City will be without Aymeric Laporte, Leroy Sane, and Jon Stones, who are all long-term absentees. It should not affect them too bad, although they could be vulnerable at the back. Sergio Aguero can become the fourth ever player to score in eight consecutive weeks if he bags one this weekend.

Prediction: Man City to win  – Everton never face up well against the big boys, and will crumble under City’s might.

Leicester v Newcastle
Leicester Form Guide DDWLL
Newcastle Form Guide LWDLL
  • Venue: King Power Stadium
  • Sunday 29 September 16:30
  • Referee: Craig Pawson
  • Quick Glance OddsH: 1/2 D: 3/1 A: 13/2

About the Game:

Leicester’s season has got off to a wonderful start and they sit third in the league, a position they could well find themselves in come the end of the season. They also have great home form only losing once in their past nine league games. Jamie Vardy will be having a party on Sunday for sure.

Newcastle have only won once this season, and are not a good side. They play negative football, but when your manager is Steve Bruce not much else can be expected. They won’t win in this game, and most likely won’t score either. They only have four goals all season and must be the most boring team to watch in the league.

Prediction: Leicester Win – The Foxes cement themselves as top-four contenders with an easy victory.
