Premier League Matchday 05 Preview – Prediction + Tips 2019/20

It’s week five of the EPL, after the international break it will be interesting to see what comes of the games this week, with no classic matches on the schedule.

In the last round of fixtures Sheffield United once again showed they can match the big boys, and Liverpool and City continued their march of dominance. Read through to see what our experts think.

Match of the Day

This one is without doubt the match of the weekend. It is one of those weeks where no big derbies or top four teams face off, and this is a game that will provide intrigue, and hopefully, some goals too.

Manchester United v Leicester City

  • Venue: Old Trafford
  • Saturday 14 September 15:00
  • Referee: Martin Atkinson
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 19/20 D: 5/2 A: 3/1

About the Game:

Leicester have started the Premier League on fire. They are unbeaten and really look like a team with purpose. Rodger’s boys led by the habitual Jamie Vardy really look like they could challenge for the Champions League this season.

They will be coming into this game thinking that they can really cause an upset and will be ready to pull it off. The foxes haven’t lost in the past 11 games, something which is an incredible statistic. History is against the team however, having only remained unbeaten after their first five games once in the past 19 seasons. It will be an interesting game and it will be demonstrate where they stand in the Premier League power table.

Bet on Manchester United v Leicester at FansBet

Manchester United are not a good team. They are lacking all over the pitch, and to be frank, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has proven he is not a good manager. United have only won once this season in the league and that is something that needs to be fixed sharpish.

United come in to this game with some fresh injury concerns. Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are all struggling. Without those in the team the Red Devils will surely not have the strength to compete. Harry Maguire has done little to improve their defence, and if anything there are looking susceptible to the counter attack. It remains to be seen if United can improve, and will be looking at Daniel James to provide more inspiration.

Prediction: Leicester to Win – Ole Gunnar’s boys will face the fury of Vardy. Maguire will be questioning his move at the end of this one.

Rest of the Premier League Games

Here’s our previews and betting tips for all the rest of the weekend’s action.

Liverpool v Newcastle

  • Venue: Anfield
  • Saturday 14 September 12:30
  • Referee: Andre Marriner
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 1/7 D: 15/2 A: 16/1

About the Game:

Liverpool haven’t lost to the Magpies at home in their last 24 games. This is going to be as much of a one-sided contest you will see all season. Liverpool will be rampant, and we expect goals from Salah and Mane, who will be best of friends by the afternoon’s end.

Newcastle may have sprung a surprise by beating Tottenham earlier on this season, but no such thing will happen this week. They have never won away to a team lying at the top of the Premier League and that record will continue on Saturday. They will be on the wrong end of a hammering.

Prediction: Liverpool Win -1.5 Handicap – Liverpool will win, and it will be by more than 2 goals.

Brighton v Burnley

  • Venue: AMEX Community Stadium
  • Saturday 14 September 15:00
  • Referee: Michael Oliver
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 23/20 D: 23/10 A: 5/2

About the Game:

Brighton entered the international break on the wake of back-to-back defeats, and lost to injury Leandro Trossard during it. This could prove to be a devastating blow, as in combination with Neal Maupay they have created six chances for one another so far.

Burnley haven’t won since the opening day, but in between was fixtures against Arsenal and Liverpool, before picking up a point away at Wolves. Asley Barnes has been in fine form and will be looking to fire the Clarets to victory in this one.

Prediction: Burnley to win – This will be a battle for both sides, however Burnley will have the quality to pinch a victory.

Sheffield United v Southampton

  • Venue: Bramall Lane
  • Saturday 14 September 15:00
  • Referee: Lee Mason
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 29/20 D: 11/5 A: 2/1

About the Game:

This is a game for the ages. The last time these two faced off in the premier league way back in March 1994. For reference, Oldham Athletic were in the Premier League back then! Sheffield United have started the season in fine form and have shown they are more than capable of holding their own in the Premier League.

Saints have a couple of injury concerns, with Nathan Redmond sidelined and Kevin Danso suspended. They have bounced back from a torrid start by picking up four points from their past two games. This will be a tough game for both sides, and we can see a draw in the making. Whatever the outcome, there will be goals!

Prediction: Draw – We expect a tough game and one that can see both teams struggling to win in.

Tottenham v Crystal Palace
Tottenham Form Guide DWDDL
Crystal Palace Form Guide LDLDW
  • Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
  • Saturday 14 September 15:00
  • Referee: Craig Pawson
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 4/11 D: 17/4 A: 7/1

About the Game:

Tottenham haven’t won since the first week of the season, and come into this game with news that Giovani Lo Celso will be out until October with injury. Despite making the CL final last season, their form in the Prem has been pretty rough for six months and need to turn it around quickly. They can’t give up more ground in the race for the top four.

On the contrary Palace have been in fine form in the Premier League this season. They have struggled to score goals, but their stout defence has meant the goals they scored have counted for big points. It can’t last forever and we expect them to come undone this weekend, even so an upset is not off the cards.

Prediction: Tottenham draw no bet – This one could go either way, with the edge to Spurs. Cover yourself with a draw no bet.

Wolverhampton v Chelsea
Wolves Form Guide WLWWD

  • Venue: Molineux Stadium
  • Saturday 14 September 15:00
  • Referee: Graham Scott
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 19/10 D: 23/10 A: 6/4

About the Game:

This is one of those games that is terribly difficult to put your finger on. Wolves haven’t lost in the past 16 home matches and this is a trend they will like to continue. We are not sure if they have enough for outright victory, nevertheless with Raul Jimenez leading the line, they do have potential to cause an upset.

Chelsea have relied heavily on youth this season and although that may come at a price in terms of inconsistency, they will surely be happy with the performances of some key players such as Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount so far. They have thrown away a few leads already this season and they will be looking to get over the hump in this regard.

Prediction: Chelsea to win – With the youth taking precedent.

Norwich v Man City
Norwich Form Guide LLLLL
Man City Form Guide DWDWW
  • Venue: Carrow Road
  • Saturday 14 September 17:30
  • Referee: Kevin Friend
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 14/1 D: 8/1 A: 1/7

About the Game:

Despite Pukki’s heroics – 5 goals in 4 games – Norwich only have 3 points so far this season and are leaking goals left, right, and centre. It really seems to be a uphill battle in this one. We’d be very impressed if they can get to half-time level.

Man City are as ruthless as ever, and Sergio Aguero has started the season by scoring in every games so far. What’s more, City are unbeaten in their last seven trips to Carrow road, and it will be eight by the day’s end. The bookie’s certainly think there is only one outcome, and we do too.

Prediction: Man City win and BTTS – City will win big, but we expect Norwich to bag a consolation goal.

Bouremouth v Everton
Bournemouth Form Guide WDLDD
Everton Form Guide WWWLW
  • Venue: Vitality Stadium
  • Sunday 15 September 14:00
  • Referee: Paul Tierney
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 19/10 D: 5/2 A: 7/5

About the Game:

This is a game that promises a wealth of goals. Why do you ask? Well, this it the highest average scoring fixture in the history of the Premier League. Even so, Bournemouth are unbeaten at home against Everton in all of the Premier League games they have faced each other.

Another interesting fact is that Everton have not lost a Sunday Premier League game in 2019, winning five and drawing two. Bournemouth on the other hand, the Cherries have lost all three that they have appeared in. This is another game which is tough to call, with Everton just getting the edge.

Prediction: Everton Draw no Bet – Everton have looked good so far this year, but away from home is always difficult, so put the insurance there.

Watford v Arsenal
Watford Form Guide LDDDW
Arsenal Form Guide WWLWD
  • Venue: Vicarage Road
  • Sunday 15 September 16:30
  • Referee: Anthony Taylor
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 13/5 D: 13/5 A: 1/1

About the Game:

Bottom of the table and a new manager already, the season hasn’t started how Watford imagined. The Premier League is a cruel mistress, and things don’t get easier this week. A year ago they were 3rd with 12 points, now they are 20th with 1. The truth is, Watford deserve where they find themselves with a number of dire performances.

Arsenal will see this game as a way of picking up momentum after two games against Liverpool and Spurs, respectively. In the past three games Arsenal have won to nil, and this could be a good bet in this one to take on.

Prediction: Arsenal win to nil – The Reds are simply unstoppable. They are playing beautiful football too.

Aston Villa v West Ham United
Aston Villa Form Guide DDWLL
West Ham Form Guide LWDLL
  • Venue: Villa Park
  • Monday 16 September 20:00
  • Referee: Mike Dean
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 13/8 D: 5/2 A: 8/5

About the Game:

Aston Villa have started the season with decent performances, but bad results. That is not a good formula for staying in the PL. Much like Fulham last year, their summer spending has not come to fruition. Hopes remain high at Villa Park, but the points need to start coming soon.

West Ham are rolling and haven’t lost in the last four games. What’s more start striker Sebastien Haller looks like he has found his scoring shoes, with three goals in three games. What’s more, Manuel Lanzini has created 14 chances so far this season, that is a deadly recipe and one that should be feared.

Prediction: West Ham Win – This one will be tight and could go either way.
